Project Description:

This project is one of six projects funded by the 2007 1/2 cent sales tax renewal. This project will reconstruct the roadway as a 3-lane facility and acquire right-of-way for ultimate divided 4-lane facility with turn lanes. The existing one-lane RR tunnel will be removed, and widened to support two-way traffic.

Project Rationale:

SAFETY: This project will improve safety by leveling the roadway and improving sight distance. The right of way component will preserve right of way for future capacity improvements.

Status Details:

The City has completed the Request for Qualifications process of the design firm. Wilson and Company of Kansas City, MO was selected. Pending negotiation and approval of their design contract, conceptual study, design and survey work will begin in July 2010.
